This IDC Flash analyzes the fiber deployments in Egypt and their implications on consumer broadband and enterprise data services. In recent times, vendors and operators have made a number of announcements about launching new fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) projects. One such announcement came from Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss structured-cabling specialists, which declared its intention to increase its focus on Egypt's growing market. R&M is already collaborating with major telecom providers in Egypt and is currently involved in new fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects on the north coast and in the city of Ain Sokhna. It is imperative to note that R&M has also recently been awarded fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) projects in New Cairo and 6th of October City, two of the areas in the capital with high-revenue potential.
