IDC Cloud Computing Roadshow 2011 | Events | IDC CEMA

CLOUD COMPUTING is reshaping the IT marketplace, creating new opportunities and catalyzing changes in traditional IT offerings. While currently undergoing a transition from early adoption status to early mainstream adoption, the cloud model is bound to eventually become recognized by the market as a fundamental part of IT service delivery — simply the way IT is done and not as a special model.

IDC predicts that worldwide, customers will spend $29 billion on public IT cloud services in 2011, up 30% from 2010. 2011 will also be a big year for private cloud services adoption and deployment, with IDC's preliminary estimate for 2011 worldwide spending on private IT cloud services at $13 billion.

IDC's Cloud Computing Roadshow 2011 will share the latest perspectives on cloud computing and will address new "cloud-enabled" IT models that leverage software-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, infastructure as-a-sevice, "mash-up" application models, next-generation on-premise systems, and very large, global solution marketplaces. These are models that "democratize" IT access, and ultimately allow organizations to out-innovate and out-execute their competitors, not based on the size of their IT budgets or skills, but on the power of their ideas and the ability to execute on them quickly.

Some of the main topics discussed at the IDC Cloud Computing Roadshow 2011 will include:

  • Cloud computing: the benefits and perils
  • Measuring ROI: cloud computing, efficiency, and sustainability
  • SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
  • Private, public, and hybrid clouds
  • Managed datacenter services and the adoption of private cloud technologies
  • Security in the cloud
  • Cloud-based applications
  • Private clouds and ironclad storage
